My case was dismissed and I received a 6 month deferral. After the 6 months my record will be completely sealed. Jim was able to achieve a very unusual outcome in my case. A clue to this was when his opponent (the prosecutor) made the comment to me that "I hired the right guy". A six month deferred judgment is essentially a six month delay in dismissal of the case. Once it is dismissed and then sealed, no member of the public will be able to ever know it existed. Also, once the case is sealed, if any public entity asks, I will be able to legally deny that I was ever charged with a crime. Jim was able to obtain a deferred judgement that allowed for a path to getting charges cleared and sealed.
